Describe your experience with Assisted Fertility Program.
For me, this clinic only has strengths. I love Dr. Shaykh, he really listens to my concerns. The staff is awesome and they make you feel like family and not just a number. The only downfall to IVF for any clinic is that due to egg, sperm or uterine quality, not everyone will get the results they seek. You have to be realistic going into IVF and if it is really what you want to do, you have to improve your health and listen to what the doctor tells you.
During treatment, did you feel like you were treated like a number or a human?
Dr. Shaykh's whole office knew my husband and I by name and never once did we feel like strangers walking into his office. We never experienced the packed waiting rooms that others have with other clinics. Dr. Shaykh also will personally answer questions, even if you are just dropping by the office unannounced.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff.
OMG! Kim, Heather, Tiffany and Brenda are awesome and I love them. Maria works the front desk and she is a sweetheart too. If I could take them to my other doctors offices, I totally would. They are always kind and professional and when I lost my daughter Isley during the 21st week of pregnancy, they were all so kind.
How was your experience with Marwan Shaykh?
Dr. Shaykh is very knowledgeable and lets his patients know in advance that his job is to get you pregnant. He values his time with his patients. He also is honest with us and tells us the truth without getting our hopes up for a potential let down. He is just awesome and in my opinion, the best in the business.
What one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Marwan Shaykh?
The piece of advice I would give is to always be on time for your appointments. Be mindful of other patients who would like to start their families by calling to reschedule 24 hours in advance if you know you can't make it to the office.
Describe the protocols Marwan Shaykh used in your cycles and their degree of success.
With our fresh cycle he prescribed Gonal-F mixed with Menopur injected in the butt muscle, Cetrotide and Pregnyl as the trigger shot. With the frozen embryo transfer I will be on Birth control pills and starting Lupron during the last week of birth control pills, followed by progesterone in oil injections the week of the transfer.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Marwan Shaykh.
The cost were for the HSG test that wasn't covered by insurance, assisted hatching, freezing and storage of the remaining embryo which was about $8375 give or take. The frozen embryo transfer was $2500 for the frozen cycle and assisted hatching. The medications for the fresh cycle were around $2000 with the Compassionate Care program and for the frozen transfer $578 as Dr. Shaykh used a compounding pharmacy to keep the Lupron cost affordable.
